Vintage Wood Garage Doors
- BUILDING PRODUCTS Magazine (5/12/2008)
- The Vintage wood door collection was designed as an entry-level, stain-grade wood door, according to the maker. Its stile-and-rail construction makes for a thinner, 15/8-inch-thick door instead of the maker's typical custom flush 31/2-inch-thick door, so it is less expensive and lighter. Nine design options can be interchanged and used on different sections of a door to create a more unique look. The collection comes ready to paint or stain. 888-768-3667.

- BUILDING PRODUCTS Magazine (5/9/2008)
- High-end home builder Gary Carlson pays a lot of attention to the garage doors he installs. Not only does he budget $10,000 to $20,000 for a semi-custom or custom wood door, he sets aside $1,000 just for the door's decorative hardware. On one of his Tuscan-style homes (priced at $2.8 million), Carlson, president of Trillium Homes in Castle Rock, Colo., wanted the garage door to match the home's architectural style. He added to each door a small speakeasy -- a window with iron grilles -- as well as large clavos to match the entry door.
