Participating Pella businesses and organizations planned the event to raise awareness for the need to safely recycle obsolete electronics and to provide a means for local residents to help protect the environment and easily participate in the community's e-cycling efforts.

- GE Plastics announced that it is working together with Lookout Shutters, based in Calhoun, Ga., to move the Lookout Clear Storm Panel made with GE's Lexan sheet into Lookout Shutters' extensive distribution and installation network in preparation for what is predicted to be an active 2007 hurricane season. Panels made with GE's Lexan sheet are highly effective: they can withstand more impact than half-inch plywood, don't corrode or rust like metal, and are 30 to 50 percent lighter than the metal panels.
