  • Introducing AlowoodIntroducing Alowood
  • ebuild (7/13/2007)
  • Now, a new line of wood products promises to deliver the beauty, workability, and longevity of domestic and exotic hardwoods, without the costly "environmental price tag." Alowood by EverTech replaces expensive, high-demand, or increasingly scarce hardwoods such as ebony, rosewood, and walnut, using a relatively simple process. Starting with plantation-grown, sustainable lumber, the wood is organically hardened and colored throughout with EverTech's patented Everdex technology. A starch-based additive is forced into the wood using pressure and vacuum infusion; the wood is then thermally cured, permanently locking in the additive. The result is a natural wood that is denser, stronger, and harder than the original wood, and can be produced in virtually any color.

  • MirabelloNafco Adds Patterns to Top Permastone Collection
  • ebuild (7/11/2007)
  • Nafco by Tarkett has introduced two patterns--Mirabello and Washed Travertine--to its top-selling PermaStone luxury vinyl tile collection. Both include warranties for 20 years on residential use and five years on light commercial use. All Nafco products are made in the U.S.A. Washed Travertine, in Cashew, Butternut and Tobacco, is reminiscent of the limestone used to build some of the world's most magnificent buildings, such as the Coliseum's arcades in Rome. Unlike its fragile namesake, which scratches and stains easily, Nafco's Tritonite system, which is a urethane finish with ceramic micro spheres, protects the tiles from scratching, scuffing and wear and is easy to maintain.

  • New Technology Keeps Children Safe in the Bathroom
  • Business Wire (6/26/2007)
  • Most parents would never guess that the bathroom ranks right behind the kitchen as the most dangerous room in the home for children, posing a risk for burns, frequent contact with bacteria and harsh, poisonous cleaning supplies. Since children's skin is more sensitive than adults, water temperature control is important in any child-safe bathroom. Additionally, a pre-set temperature control prevents increased water temperature if a child accidentally bumps the handle while bathing.
