2006 Editors' Choice Awards
- BUILDING PRODUCTS Magazine (7/27/2006)
- The tool industry is committed to hooking us all on lithium-ion–and it's working. Milwaukee started the ball rolling last year, and garnered a 2005 Editors' Choice Grand Award for being the first to unleash this new power source onto the U.S. power tool market, but with the entries since by Bosch, DeWalt, Makita, Metabo, and Ridgid–and the expected introductions by several other tool companies–we would be remiss if we did not acknowledge this major trend, and all the promise it holds for professional tool users, again this year.

- Tools & Equipment Review: Lithium-Ion Batteries
- BUILDING PRODUCTS Magazine (5/18/2006)
- Not surprisingly, most contractors are more concerned with a tool's productivity than the battery that drives it. But an emerging battery technology may cause them to reconsider their battery choices. Powerful, compact lithium-ion (LI) batteries are widely used in consumer electronics such as cell phones and laptop computers, and cordless power tool manufacturers have been interested in them for years. But only recently LI formulations were achieved to support high-amp-drawing power tools. And pros are taking notice.

- REMODELING Magazine (4/1/2006)
- For fine woodworking, the finish carpenters at Troost Bros. use nothing but SENCO's FinishPro 10 Micro Pinner, president Jeff Troost says. The pneumatic nailer weighs just 2.25 pounds and drives 1/2-inch to 1-inch 23-gauge micro pins. According to Troost, the tool is so accurate that upon nailing, "You don't even see the nail. It becomes invisible." That's why his finish carpenters use the nailer for installations of hardwood moldings, custom cabinetry, and kitchen and bath vanity cabinets where it's important to be able to hide the nail. Troost says the FinishPro is also "great for installations of add-ons and appliqués, fine-scrolled appliqués, and decorative moldings that are used to accentuate wood." And because "it's designed specifically for cabinetry and finish work, the nails don't split the wood either," Troost notes.

- REMODELING Magazine (2/1/2006)
- A tool's productivity is often of greater concern than the battery chemistry that drives it, but the Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery platform merits closer consideration.
