  • 23-Gauge Pin Nailers
  • TOOLS OF THE TRADE Magazine (7/16/2007)
  • I first discovered 23-gauge pin nailers when I was looking for a way to quickly attach small moldings after I found that 18-gauge brad nails, the standard for attaching small wood trim, would consistently split the material. At the time of my first purchase–about a decade ago–pin nailers shot a maximum 1-inch-length fastener. Back then, I felt this was more than adequate because I only envisioned using the pinner for attaching trim of 1/2 inch or less in thickness. What I did not expect, however, was how many other uses I would find for it.

It features a magnetic nose to hold fasteners in place. – FastCap's ChopShop Saw Hood can keep your cleanup quick and your customers happy. The unit also can be used as a protective cover when working outside in inclement weather.
  • Cordless Rotary Hammers
  • TOOLS OF THE TRADE Magazine (7/16/2007)
  • As a self-employed contractor in New England for nearly 30 years, I've relied on rotary hammers for as long as I've been in business. As a concrete foundation contractor, I've used them to drill holes for placing rebar into existing foundations to tie into a new pour, and occasionally on new foundations to chisel out a misplaced or forgotten beam pocket or utility chase. These days, with my projects ranging from residential remodeling and new construction to light commercial work, I use them less often but for more varied tasks like drilling for missed anchor bolts, installing deck ledger bolts into foundation walls, chiseling out old concrete firestops, creating holes for conduit, and especially tying new foundations into old.

  • New Stanley Proto Crowfoot WrencheNew Stanley Proto Crowfoot Wrenches Have Enhanced Features
  • ebuild (7/6/2007)
  • Stanley Proto has introduced an expanded line of full-polish crowfoot wrenches with new features that make them more versatile than ever, and safer to use. A crowfoot is an open-end wrench head that attaches to the end of a square-drive ratchet extension. Because the crowfoot is attached at a right-angle to the extension, it can reach into spaces too small for arms, or where fasteners are out of sight. Applications include hydraulic line fittings and other hard-to-reach fasteners on aircraft automobiles, and industrial machinery. In some cases, a crowfoot may be the only way to work one those connections without disassembling everything else around it.
