  • May 27--David Duley compares the fire escape ladders his company makes to air bags in a car: you hope you never use them, but it's nice to know they are there. In March, 238 two-story houses were sold in Fresno, Madera, Kings and Tulare counties, according to HanleyWood Market Intelligence, which tracks real estate market trends. "We think [an escape ladder] is an up-and-coming feature for our buyers, and it provides a level of comfort for them and their families," said Tony Wyman, Fresno division manager of D.R. Horton.
