(TM) and Ford post decent sales in February, but, as the Big Three know all too well, ladling out incentives is no way to make decent profits.

  • Land of Pickups
  • The Spokesman-Review (3/4/2007)
  • Mar. 4--Some wiseguy once said pickup trucks are all about individuality, and that is why everybody has one. One national survey showed that the mountain West (from Idaho to New Mexico) has the highest level of pickup truck ownership. (New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania had the lowest.)
  • Lots to Know Before You Tow - Make Sure You Have the Power, and Take Time to Master the Skills
  • Providence Journal (3/3/2007)
  • There's a reason for the popularity of lightweight trailers: most small SUVs and minivans can tow them, which means families do not have to go out and buy a separate towing vehicle when they buy a trailer. As Michael DiPaola, director of sales and marketing at Colony RV sales in Warwick, noted, people looking for a travel trailer are often disappointed because their existing car or truck is not capable of towing their dream trailer. Sales of pop-ups, folding trailers with sides that collapse for towing and storage and which typically weigh under 2,000 pounds, have been strong in recent years.

  • Nissan's Best-Selling Truck
  • Business Week (3/2/2007)
  • The Nissan Murano is a pioneering crossover vehicle that's getting a big boost from gas-price jitters and shifting consumer priorities. Amazingly, the Murano passed the venerable Pathfinder and the Titan pickup to become Nissan's top-selling truck in the U.S. market last year. The Murano isn't practical for people with big families or heavy-duty car-pooling responsibilities because it doesn't have the third-row seating available in SUVs such as the Acura MDX, the BMX X5, the Toyota (TM) Highlander and Hyundai Santa Fe.
