  • International Truck and Engine Corp., best known as a "big rig" manufacturer, rocked the pickup world in 2004 by splicing an open box onto one of its smaller utility truck cabs to create a humongous "hybrid" called the CXT, then the world's largest production pickup. It looked like a Tonka on steroids, but truckers liked it (hey, it's big and it can haul just about anything), so the company has now rolled out two new pickup models, the MXT (in 4x4 or upscale Limited trim) and RXT (in "sport" and fifth-wheel versions aimed at the horse and boat trailer–towing crowd).

"If somebody wants an SUV, they're still going to get an SUV," said Mike Groff, sales manager at Keller Bros. Ford in Lititz, reporting that his sales of SUVs have increased recently.

  • WASHINGTON -- Honda says it will put a sleek hydrogen fuel-cell sedan into limited production next year and also will sell a unique mass-market hybrid in the USA within two years, priced less than the $25,000 Civic hybrid.The automaker announced the vehicles Thursday at a demonstration here of prototypes of the FCX fuel-cell sedans it will offer in the USA next year.GM and Honda say their fuel-cell vehicles meet U.S. safety standards and have the same features as gasoline models.
