- Last fall, the Dodge Division of DaimlerChrysler's Chrysler Group introduced its first-ever mid-size sport utility vehicle, the 2007 Dodge Nitro (great, memorable name) to join its full-size Dodge Durango SUV in the product lineup.Three trim levels are offered; entry, SXT and SLT and up-level R/ T. Drivers also get to choose from two-wheel, rear-wheel drive, full- time four-wheel drive or part-time four-wheel drive.Dodge Nitro is based on a slightly stretched version of the compact Jeep Liberty sport utility.

- Apr. 25--Toyota Motor Corp. is on course to overtake General Motors Corp. as the world's biggest automaker after beating the U.S. company in quarterly sales for the first time. Toyota sold 2.348 million vehicles worldwide between January and March, surpassing the 2.26 million vehicles GM said it sold in the same period, Toyota said yesterday. The sales figures underscore GM's struggle to hold on to its 76-year reign as the world's top automaker.

- TOKYO - Toyota Motor Corp. became the world's top auto seller in the first three months of the year, passing rival General Motors Corp. for the first time, the Japanese automaker said Tuesday.The results mark the first time Toyota has beat GM in global sales on a quarterly basis.Toyota has been gaining steadily on GM in recent years, and analysts have been saying it is only a matter of time before it eclipses its Detroit-based rival, which has seen its market share shrink in the United States even as it leads sales in China.
