  • The Tile Council of North America (TCNA) recently added fiber-reinforced gypsum panels to its listing of recognized substrates for wet areas in residential and light-construction applications. This new development and recognition includes USG's FIBEROCK brand AQUA-TOUGH interior panels, tile backerboard and underlayment. All three products exceeded requirements for TCNA "wet areas," with performance advantages such as ease of installation, no delamination risk and integral water/mold resistance. Prior to this approval, fiber-reinforced gypsum panels were only recognized for limited wet areas, not shower and tub surrounds.
