Energy Saving Products Hi-Velocity System Incorporates Energy Smart Motors

July, 2009 -- With the energy efficiency of air conditioning systems in the market place today being a growing concern, Energy Saving Products Ltd. has adopted a proactive approach with their Small Duct High Velocity (SDHV) heating and air conditioning systems. In order to improve the SEER rating and reduce the operating cost to our customers, we have developed a new style of SDHV which incorporates Electronic Performance Controlled (EPC) motors. Incorporating this new technology into our already efficient Hi-Velocity System has further reduced costs to the end user, while helping on a national level by reducing the overall energy consumption.

EPC motors can achieve 20 to 50 percent higher efficiencies over the Permanent Split Capacitor (PSC) motors commonly used on the market today. Through intelligent control, via a programmable motor with dip switch technology, the capability exists to modify output horsepower or speed without the need for a user program. The system will determine the requirements needed for the current circumstance, automatically ramping up or down fan speed to compensate and supply a constant cubic feet per minute (CFM) of air.

With the use of the EPC motors in the Hi-Velocity System and a newly designed circuit board, a de-humidification cycle can be added. If a de-humidistat calls for de-humidification, the fan speed is reduced (EPC motor lowering hp output) to provide higher dehumidification. The slower fan speed lowers the CFM of air across the fan coil, allowing the air to be scrubbed of more moisture and providing a better air quality.

This ability to control motor hp output allows for zoning of more than one area from a single fan coil. The Smart Motor adjusts for the required CFM using only the power that is needed to achieve the target output.
