The Andersen Windows EcoExcel Energy Performance Package Makes Tax Credit Easy
July, 2009 -- Andersen Windows, Inc., has announced a program to make it easy for customers to identify products that meet the new Federal tax credit performance criteria. The new Andersen EcoExcel™ Energy Performance Package makes it easy to receive the tax credit with bold labeling on qualifying products and a Manufacturer's Certification Statement.*
Although many Andersen® windows qualify for the tax credit, the new EcoExcel Energy Performance Package is intended to remove all doubt from the minds of builders, remodelers and homeowners about specifically which Andersen windows and doors qualify for up to $1,500 in tax credit.* Andersen also eases the process for homeowners claiming the tax credit by providing the documentation necessary to receive it.

Andersen's 400 Series Tilt-Wash Double-Hung Windows Qualify for the EcoExcel Energy Performance Package
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 allows for Federal tax credits of up to $1,500 for qualifying windows, doors and skylights when used for remodeling or replacement in a taxpayer's primary U.S. residence.*
"The legislation offers a great opportunity to improve your energy savings, yet there has been a great amount of confusion—for homeowners and building and remodeling professionals—on what qualifies for the government's tax credit," said J Glasnapp, vice president of Corporate Sustainability and Quality at Andersen Corporation. "As the leader in the window and door industry, we intend to eliminate the confusion. Customers buying products in the EcoExcel Energy Performance Package have our assurance that they will meet the tax credit performance criteria."*
EcoExcel branded windows and doors include Andersen products that come in a wide variety of styles and shapes (both custom and standard) from the Andersen 400 Series and 100 Series product lines—and do not require expensive upgrades or add-ons to qualify for the tax credit. Customers will see the EcoExcel brand identification on qualifying products with SmartSun™ glass, which is available on most window and door styles the company manufactures.
"We have a wide range of windows and doors that qualify for the credit without the expensive upgrades other manufacturers may need for their products to meet the government's guidelines," said Jay Lund, president of the Andersen Window and Door Group. "And, customers have our assurance that these windows and doors meet the stringent qualifying performance criteria for the tax credit."*
EcoExcel branded windows and doors are up to 70 percent more energy-efficient in summer and 45 percent more energy-efficient in winter compared to ordinary dual pane glass.** To qualify for the tax credit, homeowners need to follow just a few easy steps.

- Download the applicable Andersen Manufacturer's Certification Statement from www.andersenwindows.com/TaxCredit and keep it with the sales receipt.
- Claim the tax credit when filing your Federal taxes for the 2009 and/or 2010 tax year and retain your sales receipt and Andersen Manufacturer's Certification Statement with your tax records.
