September, 2009 -- CertainTeed Corporation announces the introduction of three new Shakes & Scallops siding styles to its Vytec® brand of polymer siding. The Shakes & Scallops provide more exterior design options, with the low maintenance and superior strength of an injection-molded composite polymer.

The three new styles include: Single 7-inch Cedar Shakes, Single 9-inch Hand-split Shakes, and Single 6-1/4-inch Scallops. The Single 7-inch Cedar Shakes, complete with mitered corners, feature clean lines for a more refined appearance, reminiscent of East Coast architecture. The Single 9-inch Hand-Split Shakes, also with matching mitered corners, incorporate the look of random panels for a more rugged and rustic style. Offering a Victorian appeal, the Single 6-1/4-inch Scallops are ideal for decorative accents.

The unique continuous lock-and-nail-hem design allows panels to be easily installed without the need for a center nail, holding panels snugly and securely against the wall. The deep, detailed grain looks more like real cedar, and the panel projection creates enhanced shadow lines for a distinctive style. Longer, single-course structuring is more natural on the wall and minimizes waste.
