New DuPont Corian Arctic Series Propels the Next Generation of Translucent Countertops

May , 2009 – The breakthrough success of the imaginative DuPont™ Corian® Illumination Series "ice" collection has led to the rise of the 2009 DuPont™ Corian® Arctic Series, the next evolution of surface translucency.

DuPont unveils its five dynamic new colors – Arctic Blueberry, Arctic Mint, Arctic Strawberry, Arctic Lime, and Arctic Ice – at the 2009 Kitchen/Bath Industry Show (K/BIS). Icy white particulates both large and small dot the cool colors, creating a flurry of movement within the inventive design material. "The Arctic Series is arguably our coolest line to date," said Maureen McGeehan, marketing manager - DuPont Surfaces. "The sleek contemporary colors are embellished with a wintry mix of white, which combined with its tinted backdrop color will diffuse light and recharge any environment."

The Arctic Series allows more light to pass through than other DuPont™ Corian® solid surface colors, combining the many dimensions of light with a versatile material that can be thermoformed, bent, textured and cut. The colors' radiant aesthetics will help kitchen and bath designers create stunning, yet unexpectedly imaginative sensorial environments.

Available in half-inch thickness, the new polar tones can be used to enhance or reduce translucency, depending on the strength and color of the light source used.

• Arctic Blueberry—A light touch of periwinkle that strengthens to berry blue with frosty white particulates.

• Arctic Strawberry—A cool pink pastel candied with white particulates.
