New Spray Foam System Helps Cut Costs for ContractorsConstant Pressure Dispensing System Delivers Polyurethane Foam Quickly and Affordably
October, 2009 – Now there's a new way for contractors to cut costs and enhance service offerings: The Touch 'n Seal® CPDS™ 1000 Constant Pressure Dispensing System. The CPDS 1000 is a self-contained, portable, constant pressure spray foam system that dispenses Class I fire retardant, thermal insulating and sound attenuating 2-component polyurethane spray foam – twice as fast as foam kits. As contractors around the country are discovering, the CPDS 1000 is an affordable alternative to buying or hiring a foam dispensing truck, saving time and money.
When a scheduling mishap left Westside Drywall with a ceiling insulation job to complete at Chemeketa Community College and no foam truck to do so, things might have looked grim for the Hubbard, Ore.-based drywall and insulation contractor. However, when the foam truck could not come, the crew turned to the CPDS 1000.

Westside Drywall had purchased the Constant Pressure machine a few weeks before they started work at Chemeketa, but they had not yet used it. "We weren't sure the machine would coat the two-story ceiling, but it was great," says Josh Kernan, Insulation Manager at Westside Drywall. Using a 30-foot hose, the Westside crew was able to stand on the second deck and efficiently and effectively coat the sloped overhead ceiling.
Although they had never used the machine, Kernan says operation was easy enough that multiple crew members took turns applying the foam. "The Constant Pressure machine was turn-key and simple to operate. With just a couple of quick directions, we figured out how to use it. It didn't take a highly skilled technician to operate, and we were very pleased with the results," he says.
With an empty weight of 155 pounds and a footprint of 24" x 33", the CPDS 1000 fits in the back of a standard truck and easily navigates through standard doorways and entrances. Its portability makes it ideal for use in hard-to-reach places, and its low price point makes it affordable to even small, independent contractors, either as their only foam dispensing system or in partnership with a foam truck.
Using it in tandem with a truck is exactly what Westside Drywall has done. Since completing the Chemeketa Community College project, the company has purchased a large foam dispensing truck. But it continues to use the CPDS 1000.
"Because it is smaller and more maneuverable than a big truck, we're using the CPDS to prep homes and get all of the nooks and crannies covered," says Kernan. "Then we bring in a big truck to do the large areas. This keeps our truck moving without wasting time."
The Touch 'n Seal CPDS 1000 operates with the CP750FR or CP1200FR Class 1 fire-retardant foam kits and is designed for use in residential and commercial sealing and insulating applications. Using a constant delivery rate, the CPDS 1000 applies polyurethane spray foam to horizontal or vertical surfaces. Heated and unheated hoses up to 150' long are available, allowing for jobsite portability and versatility. No chemical calibration is required.
Touch 'n Seal foams contain no CFCs and are International Residential Code Compliant. The CPDS 1000 is available nationwide and throughout Canada. For a local distributor, please call Convenience Products Customer Service at 1-800-325-6180.
