Guardian ClimaGuard SatinDeco Glass Offers Energy Savings Combined With Elegance and Privacy
October, 2009 -- Guardian Industries has introduced ClimaGuard SatinDeco, a glass product now available to residential customers that combines advanced energy savings with an acid-etched, translucent quality.
Guardian ClimaGuard SatinDeco adds ClimaGuard's proven energy-saving residential window coating to the diffused privacy glass of Guardian's SatinDeco, widely used in interior applications such as partitions, doors, countertops and shower enclosures. The combination of ClimaGuard and SatinDeco offers residential architects design flexibility when a translucent, high-end window look is desired.

Guardian Industries' ClimaGuard SatinDeco Glass
SatinDeco can be combined with any of the Guardian ClimaGuard low-E glass products to ensure maximum energy savings for any regional climate.
ClimaGuard residential glass includes five low-E products designed to meet specific solar- and energy-control needs of different locales, plus ClimaGuard SPF for UV protection and ClimaGuard LamiGlass for sound protection and safety.
SatinDeco glass is manufactured using a unique acid-etching process that is permanent and durable. Acid is applied to the glass surface, actually dissolving part of the glass. The result is a smooth, flat surface that disperses light and transforms transparent float glass into translucent glass.
"Guardian ClimaGuard SatinDeco gives residential architects and designers an elegant, classic choice for homeowners who want privacy without sacrificing natural light or energy savings," said Martin Powell, vice president for technical marketing at Guardian. "This product represents Guardian's commitment to provide designers with innovative glass that makes homes more energy efficient, beautiful and comfortable."
ClimaGuard SatinDeco glass can be fabricated in ways similar to standard annealed float glass, including cutting, heat treating, bending, screen printing, laminating, drilling, polishing, notching, V-grooving, beveling and insulating. It is available in 3, 4, 5 and 6 mm thicknesses in both clear and low iron substrates.
Guardian also manufactures ShowerGuard SatinDeco, a patented, permanently sealed glass for shower enclosures, and SunGuard SatinDeco glass for commercial façade applications.
Guardian SatinDeco acid-etched glass is available without ClimaGuard coatings on both clear and low iron float from 3.2mm – 19mm in both single- and double-etch, as well as on mirrored substrates. The many choices mean SatinDeco can be used for a range of applications such as table tops, countertops, wall partitions, shower doors and much more.
