Affordable, Innovative Kitchen Upgrades Popular in a Tight Economy
April, 20009 – Homeowners who once might have moved up to a larger home are now deciding to stay put and remodel, transforming their home into something more satisfying or increasing property value for a future sale. In light of this trend, GE is focusing on making some of its most popular innovative cooking technologies more accessible to a wider range of homeowners.

GE
The National Association of Home Builders has projected Americans will spend $217 billion on remodeling in 2009,* much of that on improving kitchens. That's why GE offers a variety of affordable new appliances providing the flexibility of double oven ranges, the confidence of convection cooking and the cleaning ease of an oven with a steam-cleaning cycle.
Here's a snapshot of GE's newest lineup of affordable ranges:
GE® Double Oven RangeInstalling a double oven provides superior flexibility and time management for busy people, making it easy to cook two very different recipes – at two different temperatures – at the same time. Combining two self-cleaning ovens in a single appliance, the GE® double oven range offers 6.6cu.ft. of total cooking capacity: room enough in the large lower oven to prepare a holiday turkey or racks of cookies, with added capability in the single oven for broiling, roasting and baking (up to 450°F), or for use as a convenient warming oven.
The cooktop features a 9"/12" dual element, and 8" and 6" elements to suit a wide range of cookware. Stainless steel handles and knobs lend a handsome appearance. Available September 2009, the JB850 range will have a suggested retail price of $1299** for stainless steel and $1099** for color models,
GE Convection Oven RangeConvection cooking combines traditional cooking with an integrated fan, which circulates hot air throughout the oven for more even cooking. That means the bottom rack of cookies or dinner rolls turns out just as perfect as the rest. In August, GE will introduce an affordable fan convection oven that will make any cook more confident in their results!
With a super-large 5.3-cu.-ft. oven capacity, the self-cleaning convection oven provides room for baking dinner rolls, casseroles and cookies at the same time. The warming zone – a low-wattage fifth element for gently warming foods on the cooktop – provides added flexibility.
The range includes five cooking elements ranging from 12" to 6". Stainless steel handles and knobs create an elegant look on both the $999** JBP680S stainless steel version and the $799** JBP680D color models. **
GE Oven with Steam-Clean CycleVersatile and attractive, the JB400 oven has an added feature: a steam-cleaning cycle that makes quick work of everyday messes. Simply pour in tap water, select the steam-cleaning option, and within minutes small spillovers are easy to wipe away.
The oven also features a hidden bake interior, a large window and four cooking elements, including a 6"/9" dual element. The JB400 oven with steam cleaning is available now in stainless steel for $699**; color models are $499**.
GE Profile™ Double Oven RangesGE Profile™ double oven ranges will get a sleek new appearance and added functionality. On select models, contemporary intuitive controls eliminate the need for knobs, easily and accurately managing temperature and cooking times at a touch. Options include a temperature-controlled griddle and PowerBoil selections for extra control. The PB978SPSS stainless model will be available in August 2009.
