Hansgrohe Metris C Bath Faucets Merge Traditional and Modern Design Elements with Water-Saving TechnologyNew, Comprehensive Series of Lav, Bidet and Tub Faucets Combines Geometrical Shapes with Classical Design Features to Create a Romantic, Yet Minimalistic Look

    September, 2009 -- The proven Hansgrohe formula of blending modern and traditional design elements with state of the art technology is once again on display with the new Metris® C line of lav, bidet and tub faucets. All of the lav models in this new series feature ceramic cartridges and Hansgrohe EcoRight™ technology to limit flow rates to 1.5 gallons per minute (GPM) — a 30% savings over conventional lav faucets.

    Like the new Talis® C series, Metris C faucets are designed to be combined with Hansgrohe Raindance® C showerheads, handshowers and bodysprays, creating a fully coordinated look that brings a classical elegance to the bath, but with a strikingly modern touch.

    Prized collaborator: Again like Talis C, the Metris C series was created exclusively for Hansgrohe by its highly accomplished, long-time collaborator, Phoenix Design of Stuttgart and Tokyo. Phoenix Design now ranks No. 9 among 1,322 others in the iF Design creative rankings of design firms and corporate design staffs. The rankings, which include such luminaries as Samsung, Apple, Bosch, Sony, Siemens, Miele, Gaggenau, IBM, BMW and LG, are based on the number of iF Design awards a participant has won over the past three years. See: www.ifdesign.de/ranking_tabellen_e

    But while Talis C faucets feature a slim, smooth, cylindrical shape, Metris C melds luminous flat surfaces with clearly defined edges and subtle, flowing curves to create a romantic, yet minimalistic look. The sleek escutcheons of both the single-hole and three-hole models broaden into solid bases that convey both luxury and stability. Set perpendicular to its escutcheon, the faucet spout arches ever so slightly — but enough to provide its user with an ample comfort zone for hand-washing.

    The gentle wave of the spout is echoed in the equally compelling, ergonomical design of the handles. The look may be delicate, but handle operation remains smooth and firm. The Boltic lock mechanism inside prevents the lever from jiggling as the water is turned on and off.

    Full assortment: The Metris C series includes three different single-hole lav faucets — a conventionally sized model with and without a pop-up drainage mechanism, as well as a Tall version for vessel sinks. In addition, the offering includes the following:

    • Widespread Lav Faucet, again with a flow rate of 1.5 GPM, for a 30% water savings over conventional faucets;
    • Wall-Mounted Single-Handle Faucet, with a flow rate of 1.5 GPM;
    • Single-Hole Bidet Faucet, with a flow rate of 2.2 GPM and a swivel aerator;
    • Two-Hole Thermostatic Tub Filler, which combines temperature control and volume control in a single device;
    • Three-Hole Thermostatic Tub Filler, which not only melds temperature control and volume controls, but also includes a Raindance C 100 AIR 3-Jet Handshower;
    • Three-Hole Roman Tub Set, with a flow rate of up to 10 GPM and a water pressure of 44 pounds per square inch (psi);
    • Four-Hole Roman Tub Set, again with a flow rate of up to 10 GPM, but also including a Raindance C 100 AIR 3-Jet Handshower.

    All Metris C faucets feature solid brass construction and the Quiclean® cleaning system, which allows mineral deposits to be removed from the aerator in the spout with just a flick of the finger. The lav and bidet models incorporate either an M2 or a 90° ceramic cartridge, designed to provide consistently superior performance over many years.

    Five finishes: The entire Metris C line is available in five finishes: Hansgrohe's new rubbed bronze finish, as well as brushed nickel, polished nickel, oil rub bronze and chrome.

    • The rubbed bronze look, introduced earlier this year by Hansgrohe, is a special lacquer finish that is darker than oil rub bronze. The hand-brushing used to apply the finish reveals bronze and copper tones, thus creating the appearance of a more aged piece — an excellent complement to the romantic, traditional look of Metris C.
    • The brushed nickel, polished nickel and oil rub bronze finishes are created through a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) process that bonds to the fitting on a molecular level, creating a thin, but highly impervious layer of long-lasting protection.

    "The new Hansgrohe Metris C series is designed to fulfill our desire for a warm and sophisticated living environment in our homes," explains Nick Grohe, Hansgrohe Director of Product Development and Marketing for North America.
