GreenFiber Showcases Premium Insulation Product for Wall and Attic Retrofit Projects
September, 2010 - GreenFiber, manufacturer of GreenFiber natural fiber blow-in insulation, has developed a new premium grade insulation with an all-borate formula natural fiber cellulose material that is engineered specifically for use in wall and attic retrofit projects. Designed to help homeowners take advantage of federal tax credits granted for weatherization improvement projects and provide contractors with business growth opportunities, INS770LD will be showcased at booth 4922 at the Remodeling Show.
The patent-pending GreenFiber retrofit wall and attic insulation features an all-borate fire resistant formula that offers a higher level of dust suppressant. This new, premium product ensures easy flow during application, making it ideal for re-insulation applications. And, as a natural cellulose fiber, GreenFiber contributes points towards LEED and LEED-H building projects.
GreenFiber has also introduced a training program tailored specifically for contractors who want to expand their businesses to accommodate additional opportunities from retrofit insulation projects.
Training sessions for contractors include four modules: attic air sealing, duct sealing, attic insulating and side wall insulating. The training is designed to meet the standards of DOE's Weatherization Assistance Program, EPA's Home Performance with Energy Star, and Building Performance Institute (BPI).
"The extended terms of the tax credits available through the Weatherization Assistance Program combined with our new GreenFiber re-insulation product and training program provide a great opportunity for contractors to expand their skill sets and offer additional services for homeowners seeking to lower their heating and cooling costs," said Dennis Barrineau, president of GreenFiber LLC.
GreenFiber's premium retrofit product is available by special order through regular retail channels and insulation contractors for new construction and retrofit projects.
About the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)
The federal government has designated $5 billion of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 for weatherization incentives available as tax credits to homeowners. Homeowners are eligible to receive a 30 percent tax credit up to $1,500 for weatherization improvements in their home, including the addition of GreenFiber natural fiber cellulose insulation to walls and ceilings through Dec. 31, 2010.
About GreenFiber
GreenFiber is committed to the environment; it begins by diverting paper materials from landfills for its natural fiber insulation to a manufacturing process that requires ten times less energy than other types of insulation; it continues through local distribution models that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions; and it ultimately delivers value to homeowners with a natural fiber insulation product that provides increased energy savings.
Additionally, GreenFiber keeps 350,000 tons of paper out of landfills each year through recycling and Community Paper Recycling Programs. Refuse efficiency experts state that paper products account for 34 percent of landfill space -- enough office and writing paper each year to build a wall 12 feet high from Los Angeles to New York City.
Established in 2000 and headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., GreenFiber is the largest manufacturer of natural fiber insulation, fire and sound products and the only cellulose manufacturer to receive Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) certification for their natural fiber insulation product manufactured from 85 percent recycled content - 55 percent post-consumer and 30 percent pre-consumer, certificate number SCS-MC-02055. With manufacturing plants located throughout the United States that use local distribution models and require less transportation, GreenFiber products are sold to building supply retailers, and new residential construction in the U.S. and Canada.
