DeWalt. The 12-inch sliding compound miter saw (DWS780) is precise enough for fine woodworking but durable enough for deck building, says the manufacturer. The XPSTM LED light and cut alignment system casts a laser-like shadow that shows where the blade will contact the material, eliminating the need for laser guides that need to be recalibrated. The saw’s 15-amp motor delivers 3,800 RPM. The tool has a 6 3/4-inch vertical cutting capacity, 7 1/2-inch nested crown capacity, and 13 7/8-inch horizontal capacity. The tool’s dual bevel system can bevel left and right from 0 to 49 degrees and can miter 60 degrees to the right and 50 degrees to the left. The saw weighs 56 pounds and folds into a compact package for easy transportation, says the maker. 800.433.9258. www.dewalt.com.
