Bosch Appliances Selected For First LEED Certified Homes in ArizonaThe Galleries at Turney in Phoenix Set Standards in Sustainable Developments Nationwide
(Huntington Beach, CA - October 31, 2006) - Bosch home appliances, renowned for its environmental leadership in developing energy- and water-efficient appliances, will be included in Modus Development's The Galleries at Turney--the first new residential project in Arizona to achieve the Leadership in Energy and Efficient Design for Homes (LEED-H) certification. This designation is limited to homes that meet the stringent requirements established by the U.S. Green Building Council for homes designed using sustainable and renewable materials to have less impact on the environment.

The Bosch Evolution 800 featured in The Galleries at Turney.
"We selected Bosch appliances for this residential project because they combine superior efficiency with quality engineering and beautiful design," said Ed Gorman, president of Modus Development -; one of nation's leading developers of LEED certified buildings.
"Bosch is honored to have been included in this project, which is setting a new standard in sustainable residential housing in Arizona," said Michael Bohn, director of brand marketing. "As a company with a long-standing commitment to pioneering high efficiency appliances, using low impact, environmentally progressive manufacturing processes, it is gratifying to contribute to developments like the Galleries at Turney in achieving prestigious LEED certification."
The Galleries at Turney, located near the Biltmore shopping center, consists of eight residences in a quiet gated enclave with spectacular views of the downtown Phoenix skyline and the surrounding natural beauty of Camelback Mountain and the Phoenix North Mountain Preserve. It is a pure expression of modern living that has large open spaces and cutting-edge, contemporary design. In addition to high-efficiency Bosch appliances, the homes also utilize low water use plumbing fixtures, Low-E windows and doors, high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, and low VOC paint. Innovative design features include a zinc and Cembonit skin that "floats" over a home and shields it from the harsh effects of the sun.
Other recent sustainable design projects that Bosch has been selected for include LivingHomes®, the Santa Monica, Calif., model home that was the first residential project in the country to achieve the Platinum rating from the LEED for Homes rating system. Also, Bosch appliances are featured in the National Building Museum's "The Green House" exhibit that is showcasing the latest in sustainable home building technology and design until June 3, 2007, in Washington, D.C.
Bosch appliances used in The Galleries at Turney include:
Evolution™ 800 Series Refrigerator (B20CS80SNS): Bosch's new ENERGY STAR® refrigeration uses sensors to constantly measure temperature to provide consistent cooling and control the frequency of the defrost cycle. The defrost cycle will only run when needed, unlike some refrigerators that run on a timed schedule even if the cycle is not needed. By placing the temperature control on the outside of the refrigerator, the temperature can be adjusted without opening the door, which prevents the loss of the cool air inside.
Integra™ 500 Series Dishwasher (SHV46C13UC) and Integra™ 300 Series DLX Dishwasher (SHX36L15UC): Leading the way in energy efficiency, every Bosch dishwasher has earned the ENERGY STAR® label, exceeding federal energy standards by up to 48%. All Bosch dishwashers feature SENSOTRONIC™ technology, which checks soil levels and adjusts water and temperature levels accordingly -; saving water and energy. This system ensures that Bosch dishwashers use as little as 3.1 gallons of water per cycle. Bosch's energy-saving Condensation Drying™ system uses the final rinse's latent heat that is stored in the stainless steel walls to hygienically dry dishes.
500 Series 27" Single Convection Oven (HBN5045AUC): Bosch's ovens feature exclusive Genuine European Convection™, a special combination of an electronic thermostat and powerful third element surrounding a two-speed convection fan. The net effect is accurate - even heat throughout the cavity and cooking times reduced by up to 30 percent. Genuine European Convection also enables multiple-rack cooking as well as full meal cooking since flavor transfer is eliminated, saving valuable time and energy for consumers.
36" PGL Series 5 Burner Gas Cooktop (PGL985UC): Manufactured of 98% recyclable materials, this cooktop includes a TRIPLEFLAME™ Burner for more even cooking results, and the exclusive SMARTFLAME™ safety system which automatically shuts off gas flow should the flame blow out, even in the event of a power failure--offering peace of mind to users.
