CMI to Open New Door-Manufacturing Plant in Texas
CHICAGO, November 6, 2006- CraftMaster Manufacturing, Inc. (CMI) recently purchased a 277,740-square-foot distribution facility with acreage in Garland, Texas. CMI will convert the building into a manufacturing plant for its line of CraftMaster® Interior Doors. The Garland site is the company's third door-manufacturing facility, joining Christiansburg, Va., and Ozark, Ala.
Located just northeast of Dallas, CMI anticipates installing state-of-the-art production machinery in early 2007 with plans to be fully operational in the second quarter. "The Garland facility is a strategic expansion for CMI that allows us to meet the immediate customer demands in the southern and western United States, while also positioning us to achieve long-term growth plans for CraftMaster raised-panel interior doors," said Bob Merrill, CMI president and CEO. "Like our current facilities, the Garland plant will feature the latest door manufacturing equipment, allowing us to be efficient and customer focused."
CraftMaster doors are manufactured by CMI from molded, high-density fiberboard to resist shrinking, cracking and joint separation. In addition to its own door-manufacturing facilities, CMI works closely with the finest independent door manufacturers worldwide to make CraftMaster interior doors that provide the beauty of a wood door at a greater value. CMI produces and distributes a broad range of finished door products, including raised-panel interior doors and wood doors, throughout the world. CraftMaster wood doors are available in various wood species and styles, including passage, bifold, French, louver, café, flush and more.
CMI and the city of Garland expect the new CraftMaster manufacturing plant will bring 60 new jobs into town in its first year of operation and 150 jobs by year four.

The Corvado is a molded, high-density fiberboard door.
