Every time a home buyer passes on a custom theater and buys a cheap high-def plasma at Wal-Mart instead, builders and designers must die a little. Opportunity lost.
But Sam Taylor, president of Electrograph Systems, insists commodity displays leave a lot to be desired. “For instance,” he says, “they leave out some connectors to keep costs down.” And they don't offer the kind of experience a professionally installed HD display offers.
Therefore Electrograph, a Hauppauge, N.Y.–based distributor, is pushing its new RevolutionHD line of plasmas and LCDs. Not only do RevolutionHD displays feature a complete assortment of ports, they also come with Imaging Science Foundation Certification Calibration Controls, which let installers optimize a product to the buyer's home.
“We'll sell the RevolutionHD only through our installer channel as a way to help them make more money,” Taylor says.
RevolutionHD displays come in 42- and 50-inch plasma versions, as well as 32-, 37-, 42-, and 46-inch LCDs. Electrograph expects to ship a true 1080p model in the second quarter. (www.revolutionhd.com)
