Miele Introduces The World's Most Intuitive Fabric Care SystemNew Honeycomb Care Laundry Collection With Innovative MasterCare Programs And More Than 10 Other Patented Technological Advancements
Princeton, NJ, February 2007 - Miele, a world leader in laundry innovation since its first washing machine at the turn of the 20th century, will debut a groundbreaking new line of super large capacity washers and dryers made specifically for the diverse needs of the American family at the International Builders' Show held in Orlando, Florida this month. The new Miele Honeycomb Care™ Laundry Collection features a single-touch MasterCare™ wash system [available on the W4840 model washing machine] that easily and safely launders a wide range of clothing including woolens, silks and other delicate fabrics once washed by hand or sent to a dry cleaner.

Other patented technological improvements include: the Honeycomb™ drum that is proven to extend the life of clothing by a factor of four; a new aerodynamic lint filter on the super large capacity dryer that reduces the total dry time by keeping a continuous airflow; and, an optional appliance stand / storage drawer with a patented shelf for setting laundry baskets at the perfect height for sorting and folding.
Additionally, located deep inside the advanced new super capacity washing machine is an ingenious direct-mount technology that provides enhanced stability to the wash drum which adds significantly to the washer's longevity and has allowed Miele to achieve up to eight more international patents for this single, exceptional development.
"Never before have we introduced a washer and dryer with so many advanced features and technologies to thoroughly care for and extend the life of your washables while respecting our cherished resources," stated Paul McCormack, Senior Marketing Manager for Miele, Inc. "The beauty of the Honeycomb Care™ Laundry Collection goes far beyond its sleek new exterior, Honeycomb™ wash drum and easy-to-use MasterCare™ control panel. Unfortunately, American families will never see the precision, German engineering inherent at the very core of every Miele machine, the parts that keep our customers' clothes lasting four times longer or the microprocessors that monitor and conserve water and energy and can even sense if a precious pet has climbed into the load! They'll never have to think about the inventive direct-mount technology that stabilizes the drum during high spin cycles and keeps the interior workings of the machine from deteriorating over time... classic Miele endurance. [These and other patented advances won't be available for other producers to incorporate in other laundry machines for years to come.] What our customers will notice is the convenience of the controls, virtually silent operation, effortless loading of large quilts and the most brilliant cleaning results possible... whether it's gently cleaning delicate lingerie or getting a tough grass stain off a favorite pair of jeans," stated McCormack.
Honeycomb Care™ Technology Under independent laboratory testing, Miele's patented Honeycomb™ technology was actually proven to make clothes and other washables last up to four times longer. The secret to this quantum leap in patented technology is in the masterful convex pattern in Miele's steel washer and dryer drums that actually resemble a bee's honeycomb. This unique design protects fabrics as they spin in wash, rinse and dry programs.
Honeycomb Care™ Washer Debuting on Miele's new super large capacity washing machine is a unique MasterCare™ wash program setting. Under Miele's MasterCare™, a wide range of options for gently and effectively cleaning nearly every item of clothing found in a typical American home is listed. From one-touch programs for Sanitization, Jeans, Whites, Wrinkle-Free Fabrics, Beach Towels, Dress Shirts, Comforters, Outerwear and more, MasterCare™ takes the guesswork out of laundry and automatically blends the perfect combination of variables (mechanical action, wash time, water temperature) to ensure the most brilliant results without subjecting the fabric to negative conditions. Such possible laundry disasters that Miele can help avoid, according to the U.S. Product Manager Tasmin Weston, include "washing and soaking a silk blouse in extremely hot water for hours and extracting the water at the maximum spin speed. With this treatment, you've just made a very expensive dust-rag! Using Miele's intuitive controls, it's literally, a 3..2..1.. WASH count down to perfect cleaning results each and every time regardless of fabric type."
In total, Miele has 11 new MasterCare™ programs... these are in addition to the previously existing 6-9 pre-set wash programs. Weston explains, "Recognizing that a real laundry zealot is acutely aware of the cleaning process and has a desire to control it, Miele machines also offer the option to set a custom wash program of their own choosing. Custom wash options include the manipulation of six heat and six spin settings, extended wash for removing heavy soil and a sensitive setting with an added rinse to remove detergent residues."
Miele's patented electronic controls never stop monitoring to protect not only clothing, but also pets and the environment as well. MasterCare™'s Out-of-Balance Sensor detects dramatic weight shifts in the Honeycomb Drum™ during its first rotations. If a family pet for instance, were accidentally included in the load the sensor would stop the cycle and unlock the door immediately. SpinClean™ ensures that larger volume loads are cleaned thoroughly, without excess wear, by manipulating the drum rhythms to ensure superior results and longevity. Intelligent Water Intake sensors uphold Miele's century long, global pledge to use only as much water as necessary and not a single drop more. The new Honeycomb Care™ Collection also comes equipped with a child lock, self-diagnostics that tell you when there's a problem and a PC Update so that programming can be enhanced to add additional settings in the future as technology improves.
