Hurd Windows and Doors introduces customized, personalized entry doors.

MEDFORD, WI (X October 2006) - Whether drawn on a napkin, in CAD or a photo clipped from a magazine, Hurd Windows & Doors can now make a homeowners' design dream a reality. Introducing the Heritage Entrance Systems by Hurd, a customizable, solid wood entry door offering. As long as the architect, designer, builder or homeowner can communicate the entry door idea to Hurd, Hurd can make it. Handcrafted production and assembly makes it possible. Hurd is one of only a few major U.S. window and door manufacturer to offer this level of customization. Heritage Entrance Systems by Hurd is now available across the U.S.

"The entry door, as everyone knows, is the single most important exterior finish on a home. It's the most personal statement - a home and family's first impression," said Joe Herman, vice president of sales and marketing for Hurd Windows & Doors. "We believe each home, each family is unique. Therefore their entry door should reflect personal style. It shouldn't be out-of-the-box. That's why we're introducing this completely custom entry door line."

Embracing a homeowner trend for unique style, performance and security, Hurd all wood entry doors play a major role in defining a property's look and perceived value. Door designers choose from an array of architectural accents or draw their own. "Our manufacturing process is as high-touch as an entry door," said Herman. "We personally craft each door to exacting, unique specifications. It isn't the easiest way to make a door but the one-of-a-kind door combined with our industry-leading 15-year warranty makes it worth it. Entry doors add significant value to a home, financially and intrinsically."

Designing a Hurd entry door is easy:
    1. Start by choosing from Hurd's 12 wood species. Unique woods such as lyptus, mahogany and walnut are available. Homeowners can even mix wood species, choosing one for the exterior and another for the interior.

    2. Specify paint or stain color. Hurd offers 180 paint colors as standard or will match any color imaginable. Hurd's premium factory finish provides unsurpassed protection from weather and UV rays. Door components are first soaked in preservative and then primer and topcoat are electrostatically bonded onto all surfaces before assembly. Hurd's stain process is just as exacting. In six steps, industry-leading CASA stains are applied to each component before assembly. All Hurd entry doors have a 15-year warranty on the exterior finish.

    3. Design stained glass or choose from an array of 12 decorative glass options.

    4. Specify trim, panels, mouldings and more. Add the architectural accents that truly customize an entry door. Hurd's custom millwork is ideal for restorations and authentic recreations. Custom casings, backbands, pediments, pilasters and keystones are available. Any Hurd component can be made in larger proportions to match the larger openings of historic buildings or homes.

    5. Design grille patterns, choosing from wood, lead, pewter or brass.

    6. Choose hinge type and finish.

    7. Hurd entry doors can be made as French or single doors, flanked with sidelites and topped with an array of transoms. Specify swing direction and jamb extensions.

All Hurd entry doors come fully assembled with casing and trim elements in place. An established and respected high-quality wood window manufacturer, Hurd enters the entry door market with national distribution in place. An estimated seven million entry doors are installed in the U.S. annually, representing more than $1.2 billion in sales.
