Steam-Assist Wall Oven and Induction Cooktop Help Complete New Kitchenaid Architect Series II Line

ORLANDO (February 7, 2007) -; Architect® Series II, the latest generation of top-of-the-line KitchenAid appliances, made its debut as a complete collection today at the International Builder's Show. Additions to the new series include a first-of-its-kind, full size wall oven with dual fan convection with steam-assist technology; induction cooktops; slow cook warming drawers; built-in refrigerators including French Door configurations; and added dishwasher models.

The newest Architect® Series II appliances, scheduled for availability in the second quarter, join a collection that includes electric, gas and traditional dual fuel ranges, dishwashers, side-by-side and under counter refrigerators, wine cellars, beverage centers, ice makers, microwave hood combination ovens, hoods, and trash compactors.

"We've taken the best elements of our flagship Architect series and made enhancements to create a successor that delivers even more for cooks to appreciate," notes Brian Maynard, Brand Marketing Director. "Each appliance in the collection has been designed to offer best-in-class performance and timeless aesthetics while working together harmoniously."

According to Maynard, each interface between cook and appliance, from cooktop control knobs and refrigerator handles to oven display panels, was designed to be as intuitive and pleasing as possible.

In addition, key features and benefits are consistent across the collection. This allows, for example, three half-size sheet pans to go from oversized refrigerator shelf to convection oven to adjustable dishwasher rack with ease. It also means a high level of temperature control and flexible performance options including adjusting everything from flames and heating elements to racks and refrigerator temperatures.

Other thoughtful design elements include seamless surfaces for easier cleaning; easy-to-grip handles for better control and easier access; larger windows on oven doors for better visibility; warming drawers on select range models; and glass touch controls with blue digital display lighting across the entire line. Beveled edges provide for a more seamless fit with cabinetry.

"Chefs and other culinary experts helped us with functionality, ensuring that cooks will have the level of control and performance they desire," said Maynard. "On the aesthetics side of the equation, we tapped designers and other experts to achieve a unified design that ties together seamlessly."

Since the introduction of its legendary stand mixer in 1919 and first dishwasher in 1949, KitchenAid has built on the legacy of these icons to create a complete line of products designed for cooks. From countertop appliances to cookware, ranges to refrigerators, and whisks to wine cellars, KitchenAid now offers virtually every essential for the well-equipped kitchen.
