Break the Mold With Amana's New 2007 Dishwasher LineDishwashers Feature New Antimicrobial Component Protection for Consumers Who Want Cleaner, Healthier Homes

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (Feb. 7, 2007) -- Amana allows consumers to make a clean break from mold, mildew and odor-causing bacteria with its new 2007 dishwasher line featuring antimicrobial component protection supplied by Microban™. The dishwasher launch marks Amana's second appliance category to feature antimicrobial component protection, and complements two other Amana product introductions -- the Enlighten series and the Traditional series laundry pairs -- which feature Microban protection built into key components.

    Dishwashers Feature New Antimicrobial Component

"Antimicrobial component protection, whether in the kitchen or the laundry room, is another example of Amana's ongoing commitment to provide products for consumers who value a common-sense approach to life," says Adam Weber, category manager for Amana.

    Antimicrobial Protection for Cleanliness
For consumers concerned with home cleanliness, the new Amana dishwasher line fits the bill. During the manufacturing process, the Microban antimicrobial compound is integrated into the dual silverware baskets that are attached to the inside of the dishwasher door. The baskets also have guide covers to keep sharp cutlery pieces secure.

In addition, Amana offers smart, everyday features to make loading the dishwasher simpler. A new tiered upper rack has fold-down tines and double-side rack adjusters that can accommodate everything from a toddler's tiny cereal bowl to large pots and pans. On the lower rack, the cup shelf folds up to create a high-side rack for taller items such as cookie sheets, large casserole dishes or pot lids.

The Amana dishwasher line is appealing to use and provides hassle-free operation. For example, a one-touch memory cycle quickly recalls the last cycle used with a single touch of a button. A practical count-down display tells consumers how many minutes are left before the cycle is complete. And with the delay cycle feature, simply set it and forget it.

Amana has created a universal design that allows the dishwasher to blend easily with other appliances in the kitchen. The streamlined console features touch buttons in a go-with-everything finish that complements other appliances. The 2007 Amana dishwasher line will be available to consumers in July.
