Leviton Announces Q1 Availability of Vizia RF Lighting System First Product of Its Kind to Offer Exclusive Two-Way Communication to Enhance Reliability and Versatility

Orlando, FL, February 7, 2007--Leviton Manufacturing Company, North America's leading manufacturer of electrical and electronic wiring devices, is pleased to announce that its Vizia RF lighting and home control system will be available during the first quarter of this year. Vizia RF is a scalable, wireless lighting control system for residential applications that uses Z-Wave technology to overcome the performance issues and high cost of earlier generations of wireless home control systems. Easy to install, set up and operate, Vizia RF includes digital dimmers and switches, a full-function scene controller, zone-controller, appliance and lamp modules and remote controls. The devices can be installed as a single, stand-alone lighting control network or as part of Z-Wave's larger "intelligent" network of controls for HVAC, access control, intruder and fire detection, appliance control and other home systems.

First Product of Its Kind to Offer Exclusive Two-Way Communication to Enhance Reliability and Versatility

Leviton's Vizia RF line uses advanced technology with performance features previously not available in any Z-Wave product. An exclusive two-way communication protocol actively indicates whether loads on the network are ON or OFF. This adds convenience and versatility, especially in situations where users are out of sight or range of the controlled loads. Vizia RF Plug-In Modules with "best in class" circuitry provide load sensing, the most requested feature in Z-Wave devices. When a lamp is plugged into a Vizia RF Lamp Module, users can operate it manually using a switch, pull chain or other lamp-mounted switch. The improved radio frequency range of Vizia RF also enhances reliability and extends compatibility with other Z-Wave products.

Leviton has joined with more than 125 companies to participate in the "Z-Wave Alliance", a consortium of leading-edge companies that are working to incorporate Z-Wave technology into their products. The companies include industry leaders such as Logitech, Honeywell, Motorola, Intermatic, Wayne-Dalton and Universal Electronics. Z-Wave compliant products range from heating and air conditioning, security and safety, access control and appliance control to home entertainment. Leviton has licensed its exclusive, two-way communication protocol to other home control technology companies and partnered with Microsoft Corporation to offer homeowners a way to remotely control their Z-Wave lighting and home automation devices using any number of popular consumer electronic products. This relationship offers software developers a robust platform for designing Z-Wave based home control applications using Microsoft's .Net Micro Framework, a rich application development environment that speeds programming of Microsoft Windows-supported home control programs.
