DeWalt Introduces Next Generation Corded 1-inch SDS HammersNew Line Offers Hardest-Hitting Hammers with Patented Mechanism and Improved Design

February 2007 - DEWALT, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools, today announced the launch of its new line of heavy-duty 1-inch corded SDS hammers that includes a single mode pistol grip hammer (D25111K), three mode pistol grip hammer (D25113K), single mode D-handle hammer (D25211K), three mode D-handle hammer (D25213K), three mode L-shape hammer (D25313K), and three mode L-Shape hammer with quick change chuck (D25314K). The hammers have been designed with a patent pending ram and improved features to provide end users maximum power, performance and comfort. Available in February, the SDS hammers are ideal for professional concrete contractors, electricians, mechanical contractors, plumbers, HVAC professionals, window glazers, drywall professionals, carpenters and remodelers.

Power and Performance
DEWALT designed the new line of 1-inch corded hammers with improved hammer mechanisms for maximum power and performance. First, a machined groove was designed in the piston that creates a stronger vacuum in the mechanism that leads to a significant increase in consistency of impact energy. DEWALT also developed a patented spiral groove design in the ram that works in conjunction with the new piston to deliver the most consistent impact energy hammer on the market today. The new line of hammers is the hardest hitting in its class, offering 2.5 ft. lbs. of impact energy, compared to the previous DEWALT line that offered 2.3 ft. lbs.

For additional improved performance, DEWALT equipped the motor with more copper and increased the amp rating from 7.5 to 8 amps, making this new line of SDS hammers the most powerful and compact on the market. DEWALT also designed the hammers to deliver 4,300 BPMs, opposed to the previous line that offered 4,200 BPMs. These three improvements allow each hammer in the new line to deliver a 25 percent increase in drilling speed versus the previous line.

Durability
The new line of 1-inch corded SDS hammers provides even greater durability, enabling them to withstand significant wear and tear on the jobsite. First, DEWALT equipped each hammer with a steel depth rod, replacing the plastic rod available in the older hammers. Additionally, a new steel clutch has been added to provide end users with up to ten times the lifespan of the older clutch as well as a higher trip torque, with the ability to drill core bits up to 2-1/2-inch in diameter.

Comfort
The new line of 1-inch corded SDS hammers offer end users improved comfort with a vibration-dampening side handle and an easier to grip SDS chuck. In addition, the L-shape hammers were built to be the most compact in the industry.

SDS CHIPPING HAMMER
DEWALT has also introduced an L-shape SDS chipping hammer (D25330K), which is ideal for tile removal, mortar removal, or any other light chipping application. The hammer offers 2.5 ft.lbs of impact energy and its balanced, compact L-shape design provides maximum comfort for end users. Additionally, the D25330K is equipped with a one-hand chisel rotation that saves the user time by easily allowing them to adjust the position of the chisel without removing the bit from the tool.
