February 7, 2007 - Horsham, PA - Benjamin Obdyke Incorporated, a designer and manufacturer of roof and sidewall products for the residential building market, has introduced Home Slicker® 10 Plus Typar®, a rainscreen system component and premium-grade housewrap combined in one product that meets changing building code requirements in Canada. Rainscreen systems are recognized by building science experts as the optimum method of wall construction in areas prone to excessive moisture, high temperatures, and humidity.

Benjamin Obdyke's new Home Slicker 10 Plus Typar, a combined rainscreen system component and premium-grade housewrap, was developed to meet changing Canadian building codes.

In Canada, the National Building Code was recently changed to require the use of a rainscreen system including a 10-millimeter air space break in all geographical areas that exceed a certain rainfall threshold.

Part of a residential sidewall assembly, Home Slicker 10 Plus Typar eliminates moisture created by wind-driven rain and interior vapor by creating a pressure-equalized air space immediately behind exterior cladding, in addition to employing a water resistive barrier. With its patented three-dimensional nylon matrix bonded to Typar, the premium residential and commercial grade housewrap, Home Slicker 10 Plus Typar not only manages water entry by allowing it to enter and exit, but also drains away bulk water that seeps in behind cladding. It also speeds drying of moisture that accumulates in the interior wall assembly by moving air in a convective fashion throughout the cavity.
