The Next Level in Laundry Room SafetyThe New DBX1000-M Improves Defense Against Clothes Dryer Fires
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (January 2007) - The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) estimates that 13,300 structural fires are caused by clothes dryers annually accounting for an average of 10 deaths, 280 injuries and $97 million dollars in property damage every year. Construction Solutions (CS) offers a simple safeguard with the launch of the DBX1000-M at the 2007 International Builders' Show in Orlando, Florida Feb. 7 - 10.
The Next Level in Laundry Room Safety
A smart addition for any builder or homeowner, the DBX1000-M greatly minimizes potential fire hazards by providing a recessed area in the wall for the dryer vent hose, reducing the possibility of kinks in the hose, which largely contributes to fires caused by lint build-up. It also allows the gas line connection to be made within the cavity of the wall reducing kinks, which could lead to gas leakage. Constructed of 22-gauge steel, the DBX1000-M has been designed to greatly deter the flame spread to adjoining living spaces.
The product is ideal for multifamily construction, where the laundry room wall typically has narrow framing requirements. Where laundry room space is a concern, the DBX1000-M allows builders to move the dryer back four to six inches to provide an average savings of three square feet in a standard laundry room.
Standing apart from the competition, the DBX1000-M can be rotated in any direction to accommodate both upward or downward venting. Available in durable white powder coating, the DBX1000-M is easily painted and features a patented metal snap-on trim ring, aiding in the reduction of drywall and paint repairs.
