Surface Reproductions, LLC Introduces Surreal

March 1, 2007---Surface Reproductions, LLC has introduced a patent-pending product named Surreal™, an inexpensive lightweight dimensional printed sample product designed to show different edge profiles of stone products in one sample piece. The device is comprised of a 100% recyclable lightweight, yet sturdy plastic weighing less than one ounce (vs. over 4 lbs. for a similarly-sized stone sample) and can represent a stone's surface texture and color in an almost exact manner. Edge profiles are identified with recessed lettering in the product, which allows for unobstructed viewing of the color and sample piece.

1 oz. Surrealtm product with optional insert area for stone sample.

The company reports the product also has considerable environmental advantages and can save over $50 million of freight and packaging savings for countertops alone if widely adopted.

Market research has indicated that the greatest need for dimensional samples that can display a variety of edge profiles is with granite, due both to the surface's popularity and also the fact that granite's color variation allows a well-printed 3D sample to be very representative in color reproduction within this variation. The company has introduced four colors for its initial offering (Uba Tuba, Tan Brown, Giallo Veneziano and Dakota Mahogany) and expects to ultimately stock 20 of the most popular granite colors in addition to solid surface and quartz products.

The product is stackable, which allows builders, designers and retailers to economically display both product colors and edge profiles for their customers. The product is stocked in a rectangle shape (4" x 6") and also available in custom shapes (6" diameter hexagon) and has the option of allowing an actual product chip to be inserted in the center of the device.
