Henkel Introduces OSI WINTeQ Window Installation SystemThe First Complete and Compatible Window Installation System Offers an All-Around Better Way to Install Windows
ORLANDO - Henkel announces the introduction of the OSI® WINTeQ™ Window Installation System, the first three-component compatible window installation system. The new OSI® WINTeQ™ system helps take the confusion out of product selection and increases protection against homebuyers' biggest concerns - energy loss and water penetration - in three straightforward steps: Flash, Seal, Foam.

The OSI WINTeQ system
Builders have been facing increased potential liability for mold and mildew caused by improper window installation. The OSI® WINTeQ™ system is designed to decrease the chance of failure due to using mismatched products, by offering one compatible system that helps solve the problem of moisture penetration, air loss and even product selection.
The new OSI® WINTeQ™ system has simplified the process of selecting compatible, reliable products, making the window installation process as easy as three simple steps: Flash, Seal, Foam. Not all installers currently execute all three steps in window installation. But, with the compatibility and performance of the
OSI® WINTeQ™ system, these three simple steps lead to proper window installation, with a decreased risk of water and moisture penetration and increased energy efficiency and performance.
Step 1: OSI™ TeQ::Flash™
Flashing around a window is an important step to making a waterproof seal. OSI™ TeQ::Flash™ tape is a rubberized Asphalt flexible flashing tape that can be applied in temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The tape is available in 4", 6", 9", and 12" X 100" rolls. Apply OSI™ TeQ::Flash™ flashing tape to the sill, over the weather resistant barrier.
Step 2: OSI® TeQ::Seal™
Unlike most other sealants, OSI® TeQ::Seal™ does not harm or attack Bitumen, Asphalt or Butyl backed flashings. It adheres to vinyl, aluminum, wood and common weather resistant barriers. Simply apply OSI® TeQ::Seal™ sealant to the interior side of the mounting flange of the window before installing. After complete installation, install OSI™ TeQ::Flash™ tape around both sides of the jamb and head.
In the past, installers have faced problems where certain sealants can etch away at flashing tape. OSI® TeQ::Seal™ sealant and OSI™ TeQ::Flash™ tape are designed to complement each other and work together without compromising the integrity of either product.
Step 3: OSI® TeQ::Foam™
Many forms of polyurethane foams expand so aggressively they can jeopardize the functionality of the window. The OSI® TeQ::Foam™ product is a closed-cell foam that is low pressure and low expanding, allowing for an easily controlled application and superb water and moisture resistance. OSI® TeQ::Foam™ foam is installed on the interior side of the window, filling the gap between the window and the frame.
Until now, the assortment of products available to window installers has been extremely diverse, with a variety of brands and technologies available. With all these options, there have been few steps taken to determine which products work properly with each other, and what mix of products and practices are necessary to properly install a window.
