New Technology Eliminates Need to Break Through Walls to Wire Lighting, Home Video and Audio Systems
CARROLTON, Ga., April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- FlatWire is a technology, not a product. It's an innovative new approach to wiring that will change the way consumers, designers and contractors think about home makeover and renovation - and its applications are global. To view the Multimedia News Release, go to: www.prnewswire.com/mnr/flatwire/27802 Install a pair of sconces on either side of the master bed; "float" a flat screen TV; easily add a surround sound system or new home theatre - all without breaking through walls to hide bundles of unsightly wires and cables.

FlatWire is a technology
FlatWire is a paper-thin wire that adheres flat to the surface of walls or ceilings and becomes virtually invisible when covered with paint or wallpaper. No costly, time-consuming in-wall install. Do-it-yourself or have it done. It's that simple. This revolutionary new wiring technology removes many of the physical barriers to renovation caused by existing wiring systems.
The first retail line of lighting designed to work with FlatWire, the Invisible Wire™, is now available to consumers after being introduced to the building trade just a few months ago. FlatWire Ready® low-voltage wall lighting systems - which are UL-listed and include a wide range of more than 30 decorator-style sconces and complete Add-A-Light™ installation kits - are available at www.flatwireready.com. Southwire, the manufacturer, expects to announce a major retail roll-out in the next few months.
The sconce fixtures use a 12-volt, 20-watt halogen bulb, which uses less energy than a 60-watt incandescent bulb but still gives about the same usable light output.
FlatWire utilizes thin copper conductors, insulated on each side by a polymer film, to conduct low voltage electricity and data just like round wire. FlatWire Ready adapters and other products are safe for a do-it- yourselfer or professional installer.
Southwire already offers other FlatWire Ready products that can be used in a variety of low voltage lighting, audio, video, voice and data applications. Future applications for FlatWire, including 120-volt products, are in development.
