Makita. Two pounds were shaved off the 7¼ -inch 5377MG Magnesium Hypoid Saw by incorporating highly durable magnesium components. The saw features a 15-amp motor, improved ergonomics, and a 2 3/8-inch cutting capacity at 90 degrees. The hypoid gear system transfers more power over a wider surface, increasing strength and durability over worm drives. A sealed oil bath means the hypoid gears need no maintenance, the maker says. 800.462.5482. www.makitatools.com.

National Nail. Delivering the holding power of a cap with the speed and ease of a hammer tacker, the Stinger CH38 is ideal for securing roofing felt and housewrap. Caps help seal out moisture and reduce the risk of material blow-offs. Weighing 2.6 pounds, the Stinger has a 168-cap or staple capacity and offers the convenience of fastening material without hoses, compressors, or other pneumatic-tool requirements. 800.746.5659. www.nationalnail.com.

Stanley. Think the hammer can't go high-tech? Think again. The patented AntiVibe feature in the Fatmax Xtreme AntiVibe hammer minimizes shock and vibration at impact. The tool's dual-density grip transmits 30% less torque to the wrist and elbow than a standard one-piece steel hammer. A magnetic nail-starter offers extended-reach and one-handed nailing capabilities, while a checkered face design “grips” the nail head and increases control. 860.225.5111. www.stanleyworks.com.

Paslode. To complete its PowerSet product line, the maker introduces the model R175-C Roofer's Choice coil nailer. A redesigned motor helps the tool deliver 20% more power than the previous version, allowing users to drive fasteners flush through layers of roofing shingles. The PowerSet line replaces the 3000 series pneumatic construction tool line and includes the coil nailer, framing stapler, construction stapler, and insulation sheathing stapler. 800.222.6990. www.paslode.com.

The device has a high-visibility LCD gauge and display that magnetically attaches to the SquareLock rip fence. Measurements are accurate to 1/64 or .01 inch, with readouts in increments of 1/8-, 1/16-, and 1/32-inch and metric within 0.5 mm. The digital rip fence allows for infinite, precise repetitive cuts and less material waste. 877.267.2499. www.boschtools.com.
