Lutron Electronics Launches New Security Lighting Control Package for its AuroRa System
Coopersburg, PA - (January 8, 2007) - Personal and home safety is a growing concern for homeowners throughout the country. Lutron Electronics is pleased to announce a new security package for its AuroRa wireless lighting control system. The package provides visual alerts to neighbors and rescue vehicles during in-home emergencies.
In the event of an alarm, all indoor lights controlled by the AuroRa lighting control system will turn on to full bright, while all of the entry lights controlled by the system will flash. In large neighborhoods and remote rural areas, this visual alert can shave minutes off a rescue team's response time.

An AuroRa system installs quickly and easily.
The AuroRa system was designed as a low-cost, simplified, radio frequency (RF)-based lighting control system that lets homeowners create a safe path of light into, and throughout the home from the car, patio and bedside. This pre-programmed system gives users the ability to enjoy the safety, simplicity and comfort of lighting control without any installation hassles, setup or programming.
Available now with a suggested list price of $950, the AuroRa security package contains:
*five wall dimmers (styled like a traditional toggle light switch)
*five designer wallplate inserts (to allow for use with designer-style wallplates)
*one tabletop master control (to control lights from inside the home)
*one wireless controller (to control lights from inside the car)
*one security interface (links AuroRa system to a security system)
Here's How the System Works
An AuroRa system installs quickly and easily. Simply replace five existing light switches with five AuroRa dimmers. Then, for remote access of lights, plug in the five-button tabletop master control and clip the wireless controller to a car's visor. The system's compact plug-in central antenna and/or the security interface ensure reliable RF communication between all devices and can be placed in a closet or under a bed.
Each of the five master control buttons controls a single dimmer, while the master control's "All On" and "All Off" buttons control all five dimmers at once. Each dimmer corresponds with a specific master control button, taking the guesswork out of programming the system. The wireless controller turns lights on and off from the car, providing safe entry into a dark house.
The original AuroRa package contains five dimmers, one master control, one wireless controller and one central antenna. Its suggested list price is $750. AuroRa packages are available in white, ivory, almond and light almond. For increased capability, you can link two systems together in the same home for a total of 10 dimmers.
Complement an AuroRa System with Coordinating Products
Aviena dimmers and switches from Lutron offer the same look and style of AuroRa dimmers but are not part of the actual AuroRa system. These coordinating products are ideal for areas of the home that include both system and non-system dimmers and switches.
