Quiet Solution. Joining the company's line of soundproofing drywall products is QuietRock 525, which provides the same amount of noise reduction as eight layers of standard 5/8-inch drywall. "I wish this had been available when we did our offices," a judge said wistfully. Using the panels on one side of a single-stud wall results in a sound transmission rating of 51, compared with a rating of 34 for standard gypsum drywall. It scores, snaps, and hangs like standard drywall, and it weighs about the same, the firm says.
