New Handcrafted Copper Basins from Terra Acqua Add Contemporary, Yet Warm Style to Any Bathroom

LAS VEGAS (May 8, 2007) -- Prized for its natural beauty and evolving patina, copper is Terra Acqua's choice of material for its newest line of handcrafted lavatory basins. Easily complementing both rustic and contemporary decors, the beautiful copper basins are available in three new styles: Monarch, Alisal and Ferrelo. Each new basin is an original creation from Susan Hugo, designer and owner of Terra Acqua.

    Alisal - A rectangular, under-counter design

Adding a rustic elegance to any bathroom, Terra Acqua's copper basins have a beautiful living finish that will provide a natural patina over time. The copper's patina, a weathered surface texture created by slow chemical alteration, creates subtle color changes for a softer, antique look. Ranging in price from $845 to $1395, the Monarch, Alisal and Ferrelo vessels are sold at fine showrooms nationwide.

    * Monarch - This rectangular, above-counter copper vessel features a low profile and contemporary waterfall interior. Designed with double walled seamless construction, the basin is available in oil rubbed copper with a hammered exterior and smooth interior. Homeowners can also order the Monarch with a rubbed nickel interior and exterior. The Monarch basin measures 24 x 15 x 5-inches.

    * Alisal - A rectangular, under-counter design, the Alisal bathroom vessel features a contemporary waterfall interior. Providing a warm rustic sensibility, this beautiful vessel is available in smooth weathered copper, oil rubbed hammered copper and smooth rubbed nickel. The Alisal basin's interior measures 19.5 x 11.5 x 5-inches.

    * Ferrelo - The contemporary Ferrelo basin features an Asian-inspired design and boasts a graceful, rectangular shape. Formed with heavy 11-gauge copper, this rustic vessel is finished with a smooth weathered interior and a dark ping exterior. Measuring 21 x 16.5 x 4.5-inches, the Ferrelo basin is also available in weathered copper and nickel.

In addition to making a stylish statement, Terra Acqua's copper sinks are amazingly easy to care for - simply use only mild soap and no abrasives or copper cleaners. As an added bonus, a copper sink may be good for your health. Recent studies have shown that copper sinks have remarkable natural antibacterial properties. Installing a copper sink in the kitchen or bathroom can potentially help kill dangerous bacteria, such has E.coli, in just a few hours. In contrast, other sink materials, such as porcelain, can allow bacteria to survive for weeks.
