Bryant's New Thermostats Offer Latest Technology for Custom Comfort

INDIANAPOLIS, June 19, 2007 - With convenience, comfort and design in mind, Bryant Heating and Cooling Systems recently launched its new line of sleek thermostats that allow homeowners to customize settings based on the day of the week, time of day and whether they are at home or away on vacation. The product line features three series: Bryant Preferred™, Bryant Legacy™ and Bryant Base models, each offering programmable and non-programmable models and a variety of features.

    Bryant Heating and Cooling

    Customized Comfort
According to a recent survey by MARC USA on household comfort control, four out of five men (ages 21-44) said they prefer to keep their home cooler than their spouses/partners. Women generally agreed, with 60 percent saying they prefer it warmer than their spouses/partners.

"We haven't figured out a way to make everyone in a household agree on one comfortable temperature, but the new thermostats give customers easy access to their own comfort settings," said Liza Mathew, Bryant marketing manager for controls.

The Bryant Preferred programmable model offers an Xpansion Port™ (ExP™) accessory that lets homeowners use their computer to create profiles for members of a household that detail settings for temperature and humidity. This model also allows homeowners to program settings for each day of the week, with up to four changes throughout the day. Preferred non-programmable models feature Touch-n-Go™, which gives homeowners one-touch access to settings for "home," "away" and "vacation," even if they don't follow a set schedule every day.

With these features, homeowners also can maximize energy efficiency. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, homeowners can save as much as 10 percent a year on their heating and cooling bills simply by turning their thermostat back for eight hours every day. This can be done automatically by installing a programmable thermostat to adjust temperatures when homeowners are away from home.

Bryant also kept dealers in mind when designing the controls, which can be installed easily with two wires. And, dealers can program settings for homeowners through a computer interface with the ExP application.

Additional features of the Preferred Series thermostats include:
    • Indicators for filter/UV light/humidifier pad replacements
    • Automatic adjustments for daylight savings time
    • Auto tracking humidify option and dehumidify option
    • Simplified ventilation/damper control
    • Standard five-year warranty

That Other Flat Screen in the Room
Bryant has combined consumer-friendly comfort with an aesthetically pleasing design.

"Homeowners shouldn't have to settle for form over function when it comes to their thermostats," said Rick Sanfrey, president, Residential Systems for Bryant. "We've done Whatever It Takes to capture the best of both worlds. Bryant's Preferred models are the new favorite flat screen in the house."

In addition to the Preferred Series' sleek eight-tenths-of-an-inch profile, the entire family of Bryant controls features a clean, clutter-free display. A large, backlit screen makes it easy to read the indoor/outdoor temperature and time displays. The thermostat also boasts a soft-touch white frame that emulates an elegant photo frame so it can blend with any home decor.

Rounding out a Family of Product Excellence
The new products join the Evolution™ System Control by Bryant to form a comprehensive family of controls that offer the latest in consumer-friendly technology. The Evolution System Control, which combines six controls in one, offers maintenance reminders with dealer name and phone number, day-at-a-glance programming and simple vacation scheduling. Evolution Remote Access allows homeowners to connect to their system while they're away using the Internet or telephone, sending them notifications via e-mail, telephone or pager messages.
