JELD-WEN Unveils Contemporary Cool StylesModern and unexpected, JELD-WEN breaks with tradition to offer window and door styles and accessories with contemporary flair
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. May 30, 2007 -- Clean, sleek and streamlined - JELD-WEN is introducing new contemporary styles that appeal to homeowners looking for great design with a modern bent. JELD-WEN, the world's leading manufacturer of windows and doors, has always offered the widest selection of window and door options for traditional architectural styles - be it Craftsman, Colonial, Old World or Victorian. This year, the company expands its contemporary choices with the latest technology and performance features to help meet customer demand. In a recent survey of homeowners conducted on behalf of JELD-WEN, contemporary was ranked as the second most popular choice among a list of eight different architectural style options.

Contemporary Cool Modern Design
"Contemporary homes are popular in many areas of the country," said Shane Meisel, product marketing manager for JELD-WEN® doors. "Many of the elements of modernism, including clean lines, extensive use of glass and the focus on outdoor living, fit perfectly with our latest product introductions."
Modern Design in Doors
Perhaps the biggest contemporary showstopper for JELD-WEN this year is the company's new 90-degree folding door system that offers a distinctively fresh angle on modern. An engineering marvel, the 90-degree system meets where two walls would normally join to create a corner. This accordion-style door system with no structural corner post can be opened from the corner to an impressive expanse of 24 feet on each side, opening up two sides of a home a full 48 feet. The indoor-outdoor feeling and visually clean lines fit very well with the attributes of true contemporary design and makes this new door system one of the key cornerstones in JELD-WEN's contemporary offerings.
For indoor-outdoor living embraced by the majority of modernists, JELD-WEN also offers new multi-slide door systems in IWP® Custom Wood or Fiberglass and Premium Aluminum. For expansive openings, door panels operate on a multiple track system. When open, the doors disappear into a pocket in the wall or neatly stack in front of each other. When shut, the doors are flush with the wall. Weatherstrips on both the doors and the frame add extra protection against the elements. When it comes to performance, these heavy-duty doors glide easily and perform well even in harsh weather. Energy efficient and storm resistant options are available for all styles.
JELD-WEN is also introducing new door grille styles with contemporary design patterns. Grilles have been popular for the past few years, especially for Old World and Mediterranean-style homes, and JELD-WEN has unveiled 21 new grille designs for its IWP AuroraTM Custom Fiberglass and Custom Wood exterior door lines for 2007. All of JELD-WEN's grille designs are recessed and hinged for easy cleaning.
For contemporary interior design, the use of glass is big this year, as open floor plans and maximizing light and space are top priorities. JELD-WEN is highlighting elegant interior door designs with loft-style looks. This includes a Premium Wood door that incorporates four frosted glass panels along with a dramatic dark wood panel and trim to create strong lines and visual interest.
