Pella window screens combine technology, innovationRetractable Rolscreen an industry leader since 1925

08-03-2007 -- Pella Corporation continues to build on its foundation as an industry leader built when the company introduced the first of many innovations, the Rolscreen, in 1925. Today the leading window and door manufacturer offers a number of innovative window screen options engineered to let more light and air in while keeping insects out.

Pella window screens combine technology, innovation.

Pella's exclusive Rolscreen® allows great light, air flow
Pioneered by Pella in 1925, Pella's signature Rolscreen has been updated in its design and remains popular today. The patented insect screen rolls up like a shade on windows and screen doors and sideways on sliding patio doors to truly integrate with the design and performance of a window, patio door or storm door. The Rolscreen features flexible fiberglass screen cloth.

Because the Rolscreen rolls out of sight when out of use, it allows more light than a standard size casement window covered by traditional flat screen. It eliminates the need for seasonal screen storage and provides the convenience of a year-round screen with unobstructed views.

The Rolscreen's optional all-wood interior can be painted or stained to match interior trim, integrating naturally with any window finish and profile. It is available on Pella Architect Series® and Designer Series® casement windows. Rolscreen technology is also applied to Pella patio doors and storm doors.

Pella Vivid View® screen virtually invisible
Exclusively available from Pella, Vivid View screens are practically invisible, making the view to the outdoors crisper and clearer. The ultra-fine screen is remarkably less noticeable from the exterior of the home or business as well, further enhancing curb appeal. Vivid View screens allow significantly more light and breeze to flow inside the home or business.

Pella's Vivid View screens exclusively feature Gore™ Transparent Screen Fabric, a proprietary material developed by W.L. Gore and Associates, Inc., a leader in developing advanced technology products for the electronics, industrial, fabrics and medical markets. The company is best known for consumer products like GORE-TEX® fabric.

The screens are available on current Pella Architect Series® and Designer Series® casement and double-hung windows. They are adaptable to retro-fit windows from 1995 to current models by contacting a Pella® Window and Door Showroom. They are also available for ProLine® double-hung units from 1997 to present, and casement and awning units from 2000 on.

    Flat insect screens rust-free
Rust-free fiberglass screens are standard on most Pella windows and doors. They snap in place easily and remove if desired for seasonal storage; or, they can remain in place for use throughout the year. The insect screens are available in full or half sizes on double-hung windows. Full screens swing out for ease in cleaning.

    Screen sense
Pella joins the National Safety Council and other industry partners in recognizing Window Safety Week each April to stress the importance of window safety year- round. Pella promotes these reminders about screens:
*Insect screens are designed to provide ventilation while keeping insects out; they are not designed to, nor will they prevent, a child's fall from a window.
*Open the top sash of a double-hung window to allow ventilation and provide greater safety in homes with children or pets.
*For safety's sake, always monitor small children and pets around an open window. Keep play away from open windows, doors and balconies.
*Do not allow children to push on or open a screen.
*Make sure screens are in good working order and easily removable as a quick exit in the event of a fire.
*In homes occupied by small children, do not place furniture or other items which could create a climbing or falling hazard in front of a window.
