Visions 3000 Single Hung Windows Now Rated to DP 50 for High Wind Areas

MOSINEE, Wis., Aug. 20, 2007 - Visions® Windows & Doors, manufacturer of high performance vinyl windows and patio doors, announced today that its Visions 3000 single hung units have been certified at design pressure (DP) ratings of 50 pounds per square foot (psf), apart from tempered glass use. The certification ensures custom builders and architects that Visions 3000 single hung units will perform well under extreme wind pressure, because of the products' reinforced structure.

"Windows meeting the stringent requirements for this certification demonstrate their structural integrity and reliability," said Ernie DeBacco, Visions national sales manager. "With our product upgrades and line supplements, we want to exceed homeowners' expectations for performance, weather-resistance, and interior and exterior aesthetics."

Visions products are tested to the ANSI/AAMA/NWWDA 101/I.S.2-97 national standard for vinyl windows and glass doors. The national specification is established by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) and the Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA). The requirements of the 101/I.S.2 standard require window manufacturers and their products to undergo extensive evaluation to determine a product's performance.

The certification process ensures windows and doors can withstand extreme weather conditions often experienced in coastal areas. Visions 3000 single hung units meet the requirements for a Performance Class/Grade of R50 or higher. The windows can be selected up to 3 wide and still meet a DP 50 rating. Sizes measuring 3'6" are available in DP 50 only as a single unit configuration. Visions continues to test specialty shapes, additional sizes and configurations, including stacked and mulled units, as it aims to certify its complete Visions 3000 product line to DP 50.

"Every year, our manufacturing facility is tested by independent third-party laboratories, to ensure our products meet or exceed fenestration standards," said Emory Budzinski, Visions engineering senior project manager. "Builders and homeowners can rest assured that Visions 3000 products will withstand windy conditions. Next to Visions 4000 Impact products, the Visions 3000 DP 50-rated single hung is the most weather-resistant product."

Visions 3000 single hung windows combine the classic look of wood windows with no-maintenance premium vinyl. These windows feature sash that glide smoothly within a 3-1/4" jamb, and a traditional profile brickmould with an integral J-channel. In addition, the windows are constructed with fusion-welded corners, replacing unsightly squared-off appearances or overlapping frame and sash sections. All Visions 3000 single hung windows come with a proprietary compression pod, tilting block and tackle balance system for easy cleaning from the inside and smooth operation.

The Visions 3000 full product line includes casement, awning, single and double hung, single and triple slider, direct set and custom-sized windows. Double hung styles include cottage, oriel, eyebrow, picture combinations, and bay and bow units. The recessed sash locks keep the windows' interior lines clean while the optional vent latches prevent sash from opening further when the windows are partially opened. Tilt latches, locks and casement handles are available in white, tan or cameo, and a corrosion-resistant seacoast package offers extraordinary weather protection.

Visions 3000 offers Zo-e-shield™ 5 and 6 glazing systems, which incorporate insulating airspaces and Low-E coatings, and furthers energy efficiency and convenience with Real Warm-Edge™ spacers to control heat and cold air transfer, and EasyCare™ coating to help keep windows' exterior cleaner longer. Zo-e-shield 6 has a laminated interlayer that increases protection of carpets and furniture from fading caused by damaging ultraviolet rays, and also provides greater security and sound control.

Additional aesthetic appeal can be added with grilles including Simulated Divided Lite (SDL) grilles, Grilles-Between-The-Glass (GBG), or Optically Divided Lite (ODL) grilles. The line also comes with a series of screen options offering vinyl corner keys and painted aluminum frames, with standard mesh fiberglass screen cloth to resist punctures and tears.
