SKIL Power Tools Searches for America's Top Doghouses

Mt. Prospect, Ill., August 1, 2007 - The American doghouse has come a long way since the first time Snoopy climbed to the roof of his simple red wood edifice. With a passion for both their four-legged friends and their DIY projects, many dog owners take great pride in building a home for their dog that's almost as impressive as their own. Now SKIL Power Tools is saluting the most creative, lavish and unique doghouses in America through the "Extreme Doghouse" contest.

SKIL's new X-Bench Portable Work Station

From August 1 through September 15, doghouse builders can submit their best work for consideration in SKIL's "Extreme Doghouse." All they need is a picture of a doghouse they built to be considered for top honors in one of three categories- most creative, most lavish and most like owner's house. All entries must be built by the contestants and no pre-fabricated structures will be accepted. The grand prize winner in each category will receive the new SKIL X-Bench Portable Work Station with accessories valued at more than $270, as well as a prize package specifically designed for man's best friend Three honorable mention winners will receive a SKIL Cordless Combo Kit, along with a prize for their pooch.

"Constructing a doghouse is a classic American do-it-yourself project," said John Surane, President and General Manager of SKIL Power Tools. "From our trusted SKILSAWS to our newest lithium ion drill/drivers, SKIL Power Tools are perfectly suited to help DIYers build a doghouse or complete thousands of other home projects."

Complet contest details and rules will be available at www.SKILTOOLS.com beginning August 1. Contestants may submit a color photo online (no larger or than 5MB) with their completed entry form online, or mail a completed entry form and color photo to Extreme Doghouse Makeover Contest, SKIL Power Tools, 1800 W. Central Road, Mt. Prospect, Illinois 60056. The contest entry period closes on September 15. A panel of judges will select top honors in the three categories and winners will be notified in late September.

The grand prize package is highlighted by SKIL's new X-Bench Portable Work Station, a portable yet rugged table that creates a multi-functional workspace for numerous projects and locations around the house. The work station easily folds up transport and storage in tight spaces. It opens up, creating a large working surface that measures 53" x 23". The steel legs are independently adjustable, allowing users set the table at the height level that best suits their needs, from 24" up to 34". The X-Bench work surface slides open in the center to expose the innovative cut channel, which allows users to rip through materials with the support of the work surface on both sides of the wood. Optional accessories include the insert plate system, downdraft table, drill press, clamping kit, tail vise, finishing tray and storage shelf.

The SKIL X-Bench will be available beginning in September 2007, for a suggested retail price of $149.99. Accessories will also be available in September 2007 and will range in price from $24.99 to $99.99.
