Hilti HIT RE 500-SD Epoxy Adhesive Anchor System for Strength DesignFirst Adhesive Anchor Compliant with IBC 2003 and 2006

TULSA, Okla. - November 29, 2007 - Offering designers a strength design solution for anchors and rebar, the Hilti HIT RE 500-SD Epoxy Adhesive Anchor System is the industry's first adhesive anchor to receive recognition for use with the strength design provisions for post-installed anchors found in the 2003 and 2006 International Building Code (IBC). The Hilti HIT RE 500-SD Epoxy Adhesive Anchor System has been evaluated in accordance with ICC acceptance criteria AC308 and has been issued ICC ESR-2322.

With greater flexibility for design and installation, the HIT RE 500-SD can be installed in the tensile zone of concrete members (cracked concrete, Ref. ESR-2322 Ch 5.8). Cracked concrete recognition allows the use of the HIT RE 500-SD in areas with any seismic design category (SDC) and qualifies it for use in a wide temperature range, meaning that project location is never a concern. The HIT RE 500-SD meets these requirements using a standard threaded rod with no special elements required for cracked concrete applications.

The HIT RE 500-SD's flexible embedment depth allows engineers to design for any embedment between 4 and 20 times the rod/rebar diameter per AC308 1.2.2.4. and provides flexibility for various hole conditions - hammer drilled, diamond cored, water saturated, water filled and underwater holes (ESR 2322 Fig. 3).

Harnessing the HIT RE 500-SD's many design options is easy with the free PROFIS design software, which performs design calculations in accordance with the latest building codes.

Also offering exceptional durability, the HIT RE 500-SD has successfully passed the mandatory creep test requirements of AC308, designed to evaluate performance projected to 50 years. Due to the proven reliability of the HIT RE 500-SD, only Periodic Special Inspection is required (ESR-2322, Ch. 4.4), saving valuable project time and resources.
