DeWALT Introduces New Framing Hammers with Improved Air ConsumptionNew Product Launch Part of Larger DEWALT Initiative to Target Residential Contractors

February 2008 –DeWALT, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools, announced the launch of its heavy-duty round head framing nailer (D51850) and heavy-duty clipped head framing nailer (D51825). The new nailers are designed to deliver maximum durability, reliability, and performance on the jobsite and have lower air consumption than leading competitors in the market. Built for production framers, the new framing nailers are ideal for many applications, including framing, sheathing, strapping, sub-flooring, roof decking, decking and fencing. This launch highlights DeWALT's commitment to the residential end user by providing heavy-duty power tools to meet jobsite demands.

    Durability and Reliability

The lightweight framing nailers are each built with a sturdy, magnesium body and side guards to protect the tool from jobsite wear and tear. The nailers were engineered to have longer life in key wearable components such as driver blade assembly and bumper. A moving cylinder motor and four bolt nose design provides additional durability. These units perform in high and low temperatures on the jobsite and have a nail lock out for prolonged tool life.

    Performance

DeWALT designed the nailers with an internal piston catch that provides maximum power at the end of the stroke and releases a consistent drive on each shot. For increased jobsite performance and productivity, the D51850 and D51825 framing nailers are able to fire an average of eight nails per second and offer users 20 percent less air consumption than other competitive units. The framing nailers are optimized to use less air, but still have the ability to drive a 3-foot nail into engineered lumber and to work as fast as the end user. Additionally, the new aluminum magazine on each of the nailers delivers a nail capacity range from 2' to 3.5' by .113' to .148'. A contact trip provides users with a more aggressive bite, which is beneficial for toe nailing applications.

    Ease of Use

For increased user control, the new, eight pound nailers are designed with a larger bumper and a four bolt nose design. This allows for less recoil and increased nail penetration. Both units are equipped with a tool-free depth adjustment that allows the user to quickly set the depth for proper nail countersink. For increased user comfort, the new framing nailers have a taller and more slender design that is ideal for improved balance for production framing. The D51850 and D51825 are also designed with a lock and load magazine, an over molded grip, and a rafter hook attachment for increased ease of use. For easy repair on the field, users do not need to remove the nose piece to replace the bumper.

In conjunction with the framing nailer launch, DEWALT is launching a new line of electric-wheeled and gas-wheeled portable compressors in February 2008. Both the nailers and compressors are designed to improve productivity and performance on the jobsite and mark DEWALT's commitment to the residential construction industry.
