Weather Shield Expanded Wood Casing Profiles Accurately Complete Any Architectural Style

Feb. 27, 2008 — Weather Shield® Windows & Doors exterior wood casing options now include hundreds of configurations in one-piece systems or two-piece systems comprised of flat casing and back band. Combined with multiple subsill and sill nose options, the possibilities for tailoring a trim package to a specific architectural style are compounded. The new casing options are available on Collections™, Legacy Series®, Weather Shield and HR 175™ product lines.

"Weather Shield's ability to tailor a window and door package down to the smallest detail makes us a top choice among architects, designers and custom builders," said Jeff Williams, Weather Shield senior brand manager for architectural marketing. "The expanded wood casing options give them the ability to incorporate architecturally correct profiles into any of their homes. This is just one of the ways we deliver for professionals who Want More™."

The one-piece casing profiles include 2" brick mould, 3-7/16" Washington casing, and 2" stucco mould, in customizable widths (in 1/16" increments) and two thicknesses (3/4" and 1-1/8").

The two-piece systems include six flat casing and nine back band options. The flat casing option of the new two-piece system allows the choice for a proper traditional butt-joint detail where the sides meet at the head. When a back band is added to this base configuration, it will be mitered at the corners. The butt-jointed option allows varying flat casing widths at the head and side jambs.

Five subsill and five sill nose profiles are available to complement the one-piece or two-piece systems. A staff bead exterior accessory is available to bridge gaps between the window frame and the casings.

Initially the casing are available primed or painted in one of the eight standard or 47 designer colors of the Accentials™ color palette, or virtually any custom color. Components of the new two-piece system will be painted or primed individually, prior to assembly. Casings complementing Collections products are available in several wood species with wire-brushed, sanded and stained finishes. Weather Shield anticipates introducing aluminum-clad casings later this year.
