ProPEX EP Valves Use Innovative Ceramic Disc Technology for Greater Durability, Performance

    For Immediate Release

April 11, 2008—The ProPEX® EP In-line and Stop Valves from Uponor combine the proven performance of their engineered plastic (EP) with the precision and durability of ceramics to provide a product that resists corrosion, pitting and scaling, as well as chemical and mineral buildup.

"These valves are an industry-first," says Steve Lockridge, senior product manager, Plumbing, at Uponor. "By offering this new innovation that combines our advanced EP technology with ceramics, we are providing our customers with a highly durable product that will deliver consistent, long-lasting performance."

ProPEX EP In-line and Stop Valves

Designed for use with Wirsbo AQUAPEX® tubing and the unique ProPEX fitting system for both residential and commercial applications, these new valves offer the following additional benefits:

    • More stable material costs: EP and ceramic materials do not have the extreme price fluctuations as brass valves, which use copper.
    • Highly durable: Immune to corrosion, pitting and scaling from aggressive water, these valves will provide long-lasting performance, even in harsh environments.
    • All ProPEX connections: The valves feature Uponor's unique ProPEX fitting system, as opposed to crimp-style connections.
    • Conformance with ANSI/NSF 14 and 61: All the valves are compliant with industry standards and address ANSI/NSF and state lead-content initiatives.

The new Uponor EP Valve offering includes four models — two in-line valves and two stop valves. The in-line valves feature 1/2" x 1/2" and 3/4" x 3/4" configurations for PEX-to-PEX (crosslinked polyethylene) connections. The stop valves include a 1/2" PEX Angle Stop Valve and a 1/2" PEX Straight Stop Valve for point-of-use shutoff at the fixture.
