New Orbit/UMI Pre-Fab Boxes Save Installation Time, Trim Inventory

February, 2009 -- Orbit/UMI has introduced a new series of pre-fabricated steel outlet boxes with innovative features that help contractors save installation time and allow distributors to trim inventory.

Available as 4s (4” square) and 5s (4 11/16” square), the boxes are constructed from galvanized steel and have popular knock-out configurations.

Time-saving features include: An adjustable back support, which is strategically-centered to ensure perfect placement and support for studs up to 6” deep; an extra-long green 10” pigtail (#12AWG) with a 10-32 ground screw; plus an optional AB bracket.

Orbit/UMI’s pre-fab boxes are designed to work with Orbit/UMI AP (adjustable plaster) rings to further reduce installation time and labor.

Orbit/UMI 1-gang and 2-gang adjustable plaster (AP) rings can be attached to any Orbit/UMI pre-fab 4s or 5s deep box. The AP rings do the work of 28 standard 4s and 5s device rings, accommodating plaster ring installations from ¼” to 1 ½”.
