Boise Engineered Wood Products
The Simple Framing System®, incorporating Boise's family of engineered wood products, is a faster, stronger and more cost-effective way to frame floors and roofs. The Simple Framing System uses highest-quality BCI® Joists or AllJoist® products, Versa-Lam® laminated veneer lumber, Versa-Stud® laminated veneer framing lumber and other engineered wood products with matched depths that work together using fewer pieces and longer lengths. The result is longer spans, time saved during cutting and fitting, less waste, and lower overall cost since less product is needed. The Boise Simple Framing System consists of several product lines including the following:
BCI Joists are specially constructed I-joists with flanges made from Versa-Lam® laminated veneer lumber and a revolutionary flange profile providing outstanding strength and durability. Thousand-series BCI Joists feature wider flanges, which make them even easier to work with on the jobsite because of their wide nailing surface. BCI Joists are lighter in weight and stronger than conventional lumber, easier to handle, and faster to install. Boise BCI Joists help keep floors flat and homes square, make finish work go faster, with fewer problems, and are available nationally.
AllJoist series I-joists have solid-sawn flanges made from Black Spruce, a much denser wood than traditional species. Manufactured in Eastern Canada, the wide-flange AllJoist product line is available throughout the Eastern United States.
Versa-Lam laminated veneer beams and headers eliminate twisting, shrinking and splitting, and deliver flatter, quieter floors. Size-matched to BCI Joists and other elements of the Simple Framing System, Versa-Lam offers quick assembly and is precision cut into more than 18 standard sizes. Each beam edge is "eased," or smoothed, to avoid splinters. New last year was a new LVL line, Versa-Lam 1.7 2650, a cost-effective laminated veneer lumber product with design values superior to dimension lumber. Versa-Lam 1.7 2650 products are fully price competitive with laminated strand products, but offer all of the powerful advantages of an authentic laminated veneer lumber. Versa-Lam products are available nationally.
Versa-Rim®, Versa-Strand™ and Boise OSB rim boards are one-step rim boards designed specifically for the Simple Framing System. The boards match BCI Joist depths, need no special backing, and come in long lengths. These products are all available nationally.
Versa-Stud wall framing offers 182% more bending strength and 112% more stiffness than no. 2 SPF 2x6 studs. Versa-Stud wall framing provides superior wind resistance, strength, and appearance in any tall wall application and eliminates the "hinge" created by platform framing. Versa-Stud products are manufactured from Versa-Lam laminated veneer lumber and are available nationally.
Boise Glulam® beam products, manufactured with exterior-grade or wet-use adhesives that comply with all recognized standards. Boise Glulam beams are available either with or without camber, and in V8 balanced type with symmetric layup as well as V4 unbalanced beams with extra-strong bottom lamination, for the most efficient use of timber resources. Boise Glulam beams are available in the Northwest.
Engineered wood products eliminate waste associated with unusable lumber by taking out the inconsistencies found in traditional solid wood products. Boise's engineered wood products are stronger, more reliable, and when installed, use 50% less wood than ordinary lumber. Using Boise's engineered wood products is a more efficient use of valuable natural resources. Boise engineered wood products are available in all markets through a nationwide network of distributors.
