Orlando, Fla. - February 7-10, 2007 - Pittsburgh Corning introduces its Hurricane Impact Glass Block System specifically developed for new construction and renovation projects in hurricane-prone areas. The THICKSET® 90 glass block used with the KWiK'N EZ® silicone installation system meets hurricane impact code requirements for residential and commercial buildings located in hurricane-sensitive areas.

THICKSET 90
The THICKSET 90 block has a greater face thickness than standard glass block and, when used with the silicone installation system, withstands the impact of strong hurricane winds and flying debris. The block also provides all the benefits of standard glass block including light transmission, privacy control and security. THICKSET 90 glass block panels assembled using the KWiK'N EZ installation system can be used up to certain sizes based on the design pressures:
While used in a protective capacity, glass block still provides a decorative accent to maintain timeless beauty and value. The Hurricane Impact Glass Block System is available in glass block styles unique to Pittsburgh Corning, including DECORA®, VUE® or ENDURA™ patterns.
The KWiK'N EZ spacer system simplifies glass block installation with the use of a tracking system that accurately aligns the blocks. The use of the horizontal and vertical spacers ensure that the blocks are evenly spaced which provide a consistent joint thickness. Instead of mortar, which is traditionally used in glass block installation, a high strength silicone agent is used to adhere the block to the spacers, thereby creating an all-glass appearance.
